What a woven vinyl rug is
A woven vinyl rug is not a different material from a woven floor. It is the same coated vinyl strand yarn, woven in the same looms, bonded to a backing, and cut to a size instead of being laid wall to wall. What changes is the edge and the format: a rug has a finished border, a defined shape, and no need for welding to anything.
That makes it the practical answer where a floor has to change character without being replaced. A hotel suite with a hard floor and a rug under the bed. A showroom where the display changes twice a year. A residential project where the client wants warmth in one room and stone everywhere else.

The edge is where a rug succeeds or fails. Binding turns the edge into a folded tape, which reads as upholstery and survives chairs. Overlocking is faster, lighter, and better on curved shapes. Ask for both edge samples before choosing: the difference at 30 cm is invisible, and at three years it is the only thing anyone sees.
Where a rug makes more sense than a fitted floor
Hotel and serviced-apartment bedrooms. The floor is specified once for the whole building; the rug is the part that can change with a refurbishment, a brand refresh, or a room that stops working.
Retail and showroom floors. A customer walks in and reads a zone without a sign. A rug under a display does that, and it can be replaced without closing the shop.
Residential projects with hard floors. Under a bed, in front of a sofa, at the top of a stair: the places where a hard floor is correct and a softer surface is wanted.
Entrance zones. A mat-scale rug at the door takes the first metres of soil, and it can be cleaned or replaced on its own. Our floormat and runner line covers that case with a TPR backing.
Cleaning, and why the weave matters here
A rug is cleaned differently from a floor: it is taken up, sometimes beaten, sometimes washed, and put back. A woven surface tolerates that better than a printed one, because the colour runs through the yarn rather than sitting on a film. There is no printed layer to lift at the edge or along a fold.
The written maintenance schedule for the product line names the chemicals and the method. Ask for it before the order rather than after installation; it is one page, and it settles most of the questions a housekeeping team will raise later.
Ordering
Stock qualities carry no minimum order and ship in 2 to 3 weeks. Made-to-size rugs are cut from the roll, so the constraint is the roll width rather than a quantity. Unique designs made to your own specification start at 1000 m², with the price adjusted accordingly, and run 4 to 6 weeks.
Samples are free of charge, with the courier at your cost. For rugs, ask for an edge sample as well as a surface swatch: the two together are what the client actually sees.
Questions we get about rugs
Can a rug be made to a curved drawing?
Yes. Curved shapes are cut from the same roll and finished with an overlocked edge, which follows a curve better than a bound tape. Send the drawing with the radius at the tightest point and we will confirm what the edge will do there.
Does a rug need an underlay?
On carpet or on a textile floor, no: the 3.0 mm PVC foam backing holds. On a smooth hard floor, a non-slip undersheet keeps the rug from creeping, especially at the edge of a walk line. It is a separate item and it is worth specifying at the same time as the rug.
Can the same rug be used on a covered terrace?
Our indoor lines are specified for interior use. For covered outdoor areas, ask about the mat line with a TPR backing, which is made for the transition zone. Where the rug will see rain or direct sun, tell us before the sample goes out rather than after.
