Our customers are distributors, architects, interior designers and flooring contractors, and everything we sell is made at our own production base. We make woven vinyl that marries the look and feel of a natural fibre with the easy care of vinyl. We have been making it since 2002, and we design and produce it at our own production base in Zhejiang, China. The two brands. texlyweave® covers flooring, wallcovering and upholstery: wall to wall flooring , acoustic modular carpet tiles , wallcovering , and furniture and wall upholstery . texlymat® covers mats and rugs: floormats, runners, area rugs and patio mats . Both are made from the same woven vinyl. The yarn runs on a high-tenacity polyester core as standard, or on a fibreglass core where more dimensional stability and wider seamless runs are needed. With a wabi-sabi spirit, we coat the yarn in two tones and weave it in our own patterns, so the surface carries organic marks and quiet tonal variation: no two metres are identical. Colour is solution-dyed into the yarn, so it runs through the material rather than sitting on the surface. We bring out over 20 new patterns a month, for our own ranges and to customers ’ briefs. Performance is verified by independent laboratories (SGS, TÜV SÜD and SATRA), and the certificates and test reports, with their numbers, are listed here . From fabric to flooring. We started out selling woven vinyl fabric, mainly for furniture, wallcovering and floormats. In 2009 we took on wall to wall flooring as a product line of its own, and the project that started it was the Australian Pavilion at World Expo 2010 in Shanghai. A national pavilion is a six-month building with a decade of traffic in it: queues outside, visitors moving through in waves, cleaning done overnight and no chance to close for repairs. More than four million people walked on that floor, and it closed the expo with no visible wear. Read the project record . We export to more than 35 countries, mainly in Europe, Southeast Asia and South America, and we take on more than 200 projects a year. We cater to distributors, architects, interior designers and flooring contractors, working in hospitality, offices, healthcare, education, retail and housing. Every order ships with its documentation: CE marking, EN 13501-1 fire classification and REACH test data. Stock and custom work. A large part of the core range is held in stock and ships in as little as 2 – 3 weeks . Stock items carry no minimum order . Custom work takes two forms: we design to a designer ’ s brief, or we match a colour and texture from a sample you send. Custom production runs 4 – 6 weeks after sample approval, and custom orders carry a minimum order quantity; ask us for the current figure. Distributors and agents. Woven vinyl for interiors that are used hard Woven vinyl for interiors that are used hard. Four surfaces come out of the same weave: wall to wall flooring at 4 mm total and 2,400 gsm, acoustic modular carpet tiles at 3.20 to 3.50 mm, wallcovering on a PET non-woven backing, and texlymat mats and runners. The choice between them is made by traffic and by what the room has to sound like, not by colour. Flooring takes the footfall; modular tiles take the noise and the single damaged square; wallcovering takes the scuffing at hand height; mats take the grit at the door line before it reaches anything else. All four carry EN 13501-1 Cfl-s1 fire classification and CE marking, and all four are cleaned with a mop or a damp cloth rather than a programme of stripping and sealing. Which surface each interior usually needs Start from the traffic and the acoustic problem, then pick the product line. The figures in the third column are the ones to put in the specification. Each one covers a defined set of pages, and each page states the date it was last checked. A page that says who checked it, and when, is a page you can hold someone to. That is the whole reason these names are printed: if a figure on a product page disagrees with the certificate you were sent, or a colourway on a collection page is not in the sample book you have, there is a desk to write to rather than a general inbox. The three names cover the site between them, and the split follows the work: technical documentation owns the measured figures, weave design owns the colour references, export sales owns the commercial terms. Correspondence about any page goes to one address, which stays the same whoever is in the seat. People change seats. When a page passes to someone else, the name at the foot changes on the day it happens and the date moves with it; the address below does not change. So the answer to "can I write to the person who wrote this?" is always the same one, and it never depends on whether that person is still here. The three desks Huan Chen Technical documentation Product pages, guides, techniques and the test documentation library. Answers for distributors, designers and contractors The short answers first, then the detail behind each one. Stock lines have no minimum order quantity; custom production starts at 1,000 m² per colour. Stock ships in 2 to 3 weeks, custom runs take 4 to 6 weeks after sample approval. Flooring is CE marked to EN 14041, classified to EN 13501-1, and screened for REACH, RoHS, AZO and phthalates. Production is in Zhejiang, the office is in Hangzhou. Technical notes: the detail behind these answers — construction and backings, cold-welded seams, impact noise and sound absorption, colour and roll-to-roll variation, fire classification, ageing and fastness data, and compliance screening. How did the company start, and where are you based? We started in 1998 weaving upholstery fabric, and in 2002 we began making woven vinyl, at first for wallcovering. Floormats for home retailers in the United States came next, and flooring followed in 2009. The timeline matters to a specifier because it explains the range: each line grew out of a request from a customer, not out of a catalogue plan. 1998: upholstery weaving. 2002: woven vinyl, wallcovering first. 2000s: floormats and runners for US home retail. 2009: wall to wall flooring, including the Australian Pavilion at the Shanghai World Expo. The office is in Hangzhou (A301 - 307, Meidu Plaza, 789 Moganshan Road, Gongshu District, 310011). Production is in Zhejiang, where yarn, weaving, coating, backing, finishing and testing all happen on one site, which is why a change in construction reaches the loom quickly. Where are you based and where do you produce? Both answers are simple, and they are separate places. The office is in Hangzhou, and the production base is in Zhejiang province, about an hour and a half apart by road. Office: A301 - 307, Meidu Plaza, 789 Moganshan Road, Gongshu District, Hangzhou 310011, China. Production: Zhejiang, China. Yarn, weaving, coating, backing, finishing and testing happen on that one site. Documents: issued from Hangzhou. Woven vinyl since: 2002. Keeping production in one place is what makes custom work practical. A weave, a colour or a width can be changed and re-tested without sending material between factories, and the person who confirms a construction on the phone can walk to the line that runs it. If you need the address for a vendor file, use the Hangzhou office and add the Zhejiang base as the place of manufacture. What product categories do you make? Five lines, all in woven vinyl, plus panels made from the same face. Each line has its own backing and its own formats, so the specification follows the application rather than the other way round. Wall to wall flooring: rolls 200 cm (±1%), 15 to 25 m per roll, 4 mm total, 2,400 gsm. Acoustic modular carpet: tiles 50×50 cm and 100×100 cm, 3.20 to 3.50 mm. Photographs do not settle the question. What settles it is the list of things that will fail first in the building, and how each material handles that failure. What the three materials are Woven vinyl. Vinyl strand yarn is woven into a textile and then coated. The pattern comes from the weave and from two-tone yarn, so the surface keeps a textile grain rather than a printed image. The material is bonded to a backing chosen for the product line: a 3.0 mm PVC foam for wall to wall flooring, a 3.2 mm PVC rigid backing with fibreglass reinforcement for modular tiles, and a glass-fibre reinforced PVC backing with acoustic felt for the acoustic modular range. Wallcovering and upholstery take a PET non-woven backing, or a 1 mm vinyl cushion backing for furniture faces and soft walls. Luxury vinyl tile. A printed decorative film is bonded to a PVC core, with a transparent wear layer on top. The image is printed, so the design range is wide and repeatable. Formats are planks and tiles. Carpet tile. Pile yarn is tufted or bonded to a backing, usually with a secondary backing for dimensional stability. The format is almost always a tile. The comparison that matters Question Woven vinyl LVT Carpet tile Where the look comes from weave and yarn colour printed film pile and yarn colour Typical format roll, or tiles 50 × 50 / 100 × 100 cm plank or tile tile Impact noise reduction depends on backing; our 3.0 mm PVC foam backing gives ΔLw 21 dB (BS EN ISO 10140-3:2010) depends on backing and underlay depends on backing Airborne sound absorption low; our acoustic range is αw 0.05, not classified under EN ISO 354 low generally higher, product data needed Water on the surface vinyl surface, joints closed when welded vinyl surface needs attention quickly Replacing one damaged area simple with tiles, a patch with roll goods simple with tiles simple with tiles Documents to ask for CE marking to EN 14041, DoP, EN 13501-1 classification, REACH, colour fastness reports same set same set The table is a starting point. Every row has an exception, and the exception is usually the detail that decides the job. Acoustics: decide which problem you have Buildings have two separate acoustic problems and they get confused. Impact noise is the sound of a footfall travelling through the slab into the room below. It is measured as ΔLw. A resilient backing reduces it. Our wall to wall floor with a 3.0 mm PVC foam backing cuts impact noise by ΔLw 21 dB (BS EN ISO 10140-3:2010). Airborne absorption is the sound inside the room, measured as αw. Woven vinyl is a dense surface and does not absorb much. Our acoustic modular range is tested to EN ISO 354 at αw 0.05, which is not classified. That number earns its place in a specification by stopping an error early: these tiles are not sound-absorbing panels and should not be sold as one. [...] ### Flooring for Gyms, Studios and Training Spaces | texlyweave URL: https://texlyweave.com/guides/flooring-for-gyms Selection guide Flooring for Gyms and Studios A gym floor is asked to do two jobs that pull in opposite directions. It has to take load that would damage a carpet, and it has to stay quiet and cleanable enough for a room where people breathe hard and sweat on the floor. What the floor actually goes through Five things happen in a training space that do not happen in an office. Dropped weight plates, dumbbells and kettlebells, from waist height, onto a small area. Trolleys and racks moved across the room. Sweat, spilled water and cleaning chemical. Street grit carried in from the entrance. And a large number of shoes, or bare feet, in constant contact with the surface for twelve hours a day. Each one points to a different property. Dropped load points to resilience and a surface that will not tear. Sweat points to a closed surface and welded seams. Grit points to a surface that can be swept without trapping soil. Bare feet point to something that is not cold and not slippery when damp. The problem most specifications miss: noise Gyms are noisy rooms, but the noise complaint almost never comes from inside the gym. It comes from the floor below. Impact noise is footfall, dropped weights and machine vibration travelling through the slab. It is measured as ΔLw, and it is a property of the flooring build, not of the surface pattern. Our wall to wall flooring uses a 3.0 mm PVC foam backing and cuts impact noise by ΔLw 21 dB (BS EN ISO 10140-3:2010). That figure is worth writing into a specification with the standard next to it, because a ΔLw number without its test method cannot be compared with a number from another tender. There is a second, different acoustic question: sound absorption inside the room. Woven vinyl is a dense surface and absorbs very little. Our acoustic modular range is tested to EN ISO 354 at αw 0.05, which is not classified. That number is useful because it stops an error early. If a consultant asks for absorption in a studio, the answer is a ceiling or a wall panel, not the floor. Which surface belongs where Area What decides it Format Weights and functional training Dropped load, abrasion, cleaning Tiles, so a damaged piece is lifted and replaced Studio, yoga and pilates Bare feet, warmth, quiet Roll goods, fewer seams, resilient backing Cardio and machines Point load under equipment feet, cleaning Tiles or roll, with protection pads under machines Changing rooms and reception Water, cleaning, appearance Tiles at the wet edge, roll in the dry area Circulation and stairs Edge wear, seam placement Roll with welded seams, laid along the run The table is a starting point rather than a rule. The usual exception is a studio that doubles as a weights room two evenings a week, which pushes the specification towards tiles. Seams, format and the replacement question A gym will damage its floor. The only question is whether the damage costs an afternoon or a floor closure. Roll goods give fewer seams and a continuous surface across a large [...] ### Flooring for Schools, Colleges and Learning Spaces | texlyweave URL: https://texlyweave.com/guides/flooring-for-schools Selection guide Flooring for Schools A school floor is specified by three groups of people who want different things. The facilities manager wants it to survive a decade of holidays and cleaning. The head teacher wants it to look like the prospectus. The acoustician wants the room below to stay quiet. Corridors carry the load, classrooms carry the expectation A corridor in a secondary school sees more traffic in one morning than an office floor sees in a month. Bags against the wall, trolleys, wet boots in winter, chairs dragged. A classroom is gentler on the surface and harsher on the ears. Thirty chairs moving four times a day, in a room with hard walls and a hard ceiling, is the acoustic problem that generates complaints. The two spaces therefore need different arguments in the same specification. Corridors are about wear and cleaning. Classrooms are about impact noise and about a surface that does not amplify the room. The acoustic question, separated properly Impact noise is footfall and furniture travelling through the slab into the room below. It is measured as ΔLw and it belongs to the backing. Our wall to wall flooring uses a 3.0 mm PVC foam backing and cuts impact noise by ΔLw 21 dB (BS EN ISO 10140-3:2010). Write the requirement as a number with the standard attached. "Reduce noise" cannot be checked at handover. Airborne absorption, measured as αw, is a different property. Woven vinyl is dense and absorbs little. Our acoustic modular range tests at αw 0.05, not classified to EN ISO 354. Rooms that ring need treatment on the ceiling and walls; a floor cannot do that job, and a supplier who implies otherwise is setting up a complaint. Where each format belongs Space What decides it Format Corridors and stairs Wear, seam placement, cleaning Roll goods, welded seams, laid along the run General classrooms Impact noise to the room below, chair movement Roll goods on a resilient backing Science and art rooms Spills, chemical cleaning Roll with welded seams, or tiles at the wet zone Libraries and quiet study Quiet underfoot, appearance Roll goods Dining and assembly halls Chair movement, food spills, cleaning windows Tiles, so one damaged area is replaced SEN and early years Comfort for children sitting on the floor, cleaning Roll goods with a resilient backing A minimum roll width of 200 cm (±1%, EN 426) covers most classrooms and corridor widths without a lengthways seam. Wider or exceptional widths can be discussed on request. Colour, wayfinding and the ten-year view Schools repaint on a cycle and replace flooring on a longer one, which is why the floor usually has to sit under three colour schemes before it is replaced. Two properties help. Solution-dyed colour runs through the yarn rather than sitting on the surface, so cleaning does not take colour out of it. Two-tone yarn gives the grain of a natural fibre and holds small marks better than a flat shade, which matters in a corridor where the walk line is obvious after two years. Colour [...] ### Choosing Flooring for Hotels and Hospitality Interiors | texlyweave URL: https://texlyweave.com/guides/hotel-flooring Selection guide Flooring for Hotels A hotel floor has to survive two things at once: heavy foot traffic, and a guest's expectation of quiet. Selection often starts with a photograph of the lobby and ends with the maintenance schedule. This guide works in the opposite order. Start with the public areas Lobby, bar, restaurant, breakfast room and function space carry the heaviest load and the least tolerance for a tired surface. These are the areas where the floor is seen at close range, under artificial light, all day. Three questions decide the material here. What will be dropped on it. Glass, cutlery, luggage wheels, cleaning machines. A resilient surface with a closed joint handles the first three. The fourth depends on the pad and the maintenance schedule, which is why the maintenance document belongs in the tender pack. What will be seen in two years. Public areas are read at standing distance and photographed constantly. A surface whose pattern comes from the weave holds up better than one whose pattern is a printed image, because wear in the walk line remodels a print and does not remodel a weave. How it will be cleaned between service periods. A floor that needs a four-step routine is a floor that will be done in two steps by the second year. Agree the routine with the housekeeping contractor before the sample is signed off. Guest rooms and corridors are a different problem In rooms, comfort and quiet matter more than wear. In corridors, the reverse. Corridors are long, narrow rooms with doors on both sides and no soft furnishing. They also sit above another corridor or a bedroom, so footfall becomes a structural problem rather than a surface problem. That is the point to specify impact noise rather than appearance. Our wall to wall floor with a 3.0 mm PVC foam backing cuts impact noise by ΔLw 21 dB (BS EN ISO 10140-3:2010). Write the requirement with the standard next to it, because a ΔLw figure without its test method cannot be compared with the figure in another tender. There is a second acoustic question, inside the room rather than below it. Woven vinyl is dense and absorbs little sound. Our acoustic modular range is tested to EN ISO 354 at αw 0.05, which is not classified. If a consultant asks for absorption in a corridor, that request is answered by a ceiling or a wall panel, not by these tiles. Knowing this before the specification is written saves a substitution later. Colour and pattern that survive real use Hospitality colour schemes are usually chosen from a drawing, then installed in a building with daylight, dirty boots and a cleaning machine. Four things help in practice, and all four can be checked before the sample is signed off. Solution-dyed yarn. The colour is in the yarn before the yarn is woven, so the surface does not depend on a coating to hide wear. Two-tone yarn. Two tones of yarn in the same colour family give the grain of a natural fibre, and they hide small marks better than a flat shade. Light and rub fastness [...] ### Selection guides for woven vinyl surfaces | texlyweave URL: https://texlyweave.com/guides/ Guides Selection guides Six guides for the decisions that come before a sample is approved: material choice, hotel applications, walls and furniture, gyms and studios, schools, and offices. Where a figure appears it carries its standard. ### Woven Vinyl in Offices and Co-working Spaces | texlyweave URL: https://texlyweave.com/guides/offices Selection guide Offices and Co-working The office floor has been through three fashions in twenty years: carpet everywhere, then hard floor everywhere, then a split between the two. What an office floor is actually asked to do Four things, in order of how often they cause a complaint. Absorb the sound of walking. In an open plan office the floor is a large hard surface between people and the slab. Footfall and chair movement are the noise colleagues mention first. Survive chairs. Five-point castors rolling eight hours a day are harder on a surface than a hundred pairs of shoes. Hide the walk line. The route from the lift to the kitchen gets the same traffic every day for ten years. Be cleanable by a contractor who has twenty minutes. Everything else is decided by these four. The acoustic split: what the floor can and cannot do Two measurements matter and they are frequently mixed up. Impact noise , measured as ΔLw, is what the floor does to the sound of walking. Our wall to wall flooring uses a 3.0 mm PVC foam backing and cuts impact noise by ΔLw 21 dB (BS EN ISO 10140-3:2010). This is the number to specify when a meeting room sits above a quiet space. Airborne absorption , measured as αw, is what the surface does to sound already in the room. Woven vinyl is dense and absorbs little. Our acoustic modular range tests at αw 0.05, not classified to EN ISO 354. Open plan offices are usually treated with acoustic ceilings, screens and soft furniture, and the floor is not the instrument for that job. Being clear about the second point protects the project. A client who buys a floor expecting it to fix a reverberant room will complain about the floor, not the ceiling. Zoning an office by floor Zone What decides it Format Reception and client-facing areas Appearance, wear at the entrance Roll goods with welded seams Open plan desks Chair castors, walk line, quiet Roll goods on a resilient backing Meeting rooms Impact noise to the room below, acoustic comfort Roll goods, resilient backing Breakout and soft seating Comfort, colour, chair movement Tiles, or roll with a cushion backing Phone booths and focus rooms Hard wear in a small area, easy replacement Tiles Circulation and stairs Edge wear, seam placement Roll goods laid along the run Canteen and kitchen edge Spills, cleaning Tiles at the wet zone The usual mistake is to run a hard floor through the whole plate for a consistent look, then add rugs to fix the acoustics. The consistent result costs less to maintain when the zoning is decided at design stage instead. Format: where a replacement happens Refurbishment in occupied offices happens in phases, at weekends, one zone at a time. Tiles make that practical. One damaged tile is lifted and replaced between Friday evening and Monday morning, and a tenant change that adds a kitchenette to one corner does not require a new floor for the whole plate. Roll goods give fewer seams and a more continuous surface, which reads better in a reception area where [...] ### Woven Vinyl for Walls and Furniture: A Specification Guide | texlyweave URL: https://texlyweave.com/guides/walls-and-upholstery Selection guide Walls and Furniture Woven vinyl is usually specified as a floor. In practice the same woven material goes onto walls and onto furniture, and the two applications ask different things of it. This guide covers what to write in the specification for each. Two jobs, two substrates Wallcovering. The material is laminated to a PET non-woven backing. The wall decides the installation method more than the fabric does: a plasterboard wall, a joinery panel and a curved column take different fixings and different seam positions. Upholstery and soft wall panels. Here the material is bonded to a 1 mm vinyl cushion backing for furniture faces and soft walls. The fabric is asked to hold a seam under tension, take a shape over foam, and survive cleaning without changing surface. Same weave, same yarn, different backing, different test sheet. The mistake to avoid is specifying "woven vinyl" without naming the application, because the backing is what the installer and the upholsterer actually work with. What the fabric has to pass For furniture, four tests come up in almost every brief: tensile strength, tearing strength, burst strength, and Martindale abrasion. Our material is tested on all four and the results appear on the data sheet for each quality. We do not publish a Martindale figure without the sheet behind it, and we would encourage the same caution on the other side of the table. A cycles figure quoted without the test method, the abrasion medium and the assessment criterion cannot be compared with another supplier's figure. Ask for the sheet, read the method line, then compare. For wallcovering, the questions are different. Dimensional stability matters on a long wall. Surface cleanability matters wherever hands and trolleys touch. Seam behaviour matters on any wall over about three metres, because a wallcovering seam is looked at from a standing position all day. Seams: sewn, or welded Woven vinyl can be sewn or HF-welded. Welding gives a flat seam with no stitch line. The choice is practical rather than aesthetic. Sewn is the usual route for cushions and loose covers, and it is what a soft furnishing workshop already has the equipment for. It shows a stitch line. HF-welded gives a flat joint with no thread to wear through, which is why it suits fixed upholstery, headboards and wall panels where the seam will be cleaned and touched. It also closes the joint against liquid, which matters in healthcare and hospitality. For wall panels, welded seams keep the pattern continuous across the joint. For furniture, the welded seam is usually run in a direction that follows the shape of the piece. Fire, emissions and the documents A specification for wallcovering or upholstery will be read by a fire engineer, and it will be checked against the building's classification requirement. Reaction to fire classification to EN 13501-1, stated for the exact product and backing CE marking: certificate 156 covers the flooring, certificate 157 covers the [...] ### Woven Vinyl Flooring & Wallcovering | texlyweave URL: https://texlyweave.com/ Since 2002 · Woven vinyl for aesthetics Woven Vinyl Surfaces from Wall to Floor, and on to Furniture We make woven vinyl with the look and feel of a natural fibre, and finish it ourselves for floors, walls and furniture. Yarn, weaving, coating, backing, finishing and testing all happen at our own production base in Zhejiang, China. Sample book patterns are held in stock and ship in as little as 2 – 3 weeks. Explore surfaces Request a sample book Zhejiang, China Flooring · Wallcovering · Upholstery · Custom weaves & colours What is woven vinyl? Woven vinyl starts as vinyl-coated yarn. The yarn is woven into a textile on a loom, in the way furnishing fabric is woven, then coated, finished and bonded to a backing. The pattern comes from the weave and from two-tone yarn rather than from a printed film, so the surface keeps a textile grain and the colour runs through the fibre. The face is 1.0 mm of woven vinyl on a core of high-tenacity polyester as standard, or fibreglass where a wider seamless run or more dimensional stability is needed. Backings change with the product line: 3.0 mm PVC foam for rolled flooring, 2.2 to 2.5 mm vinyl with fibreglass and acoustic felt for tiles, and PET non-woven for wallcovering. The result behaves like a resilient floor and reads like a woven textile. Cleaning is vinyl work, a vacuum or a damp mop, with no waxing. Specification is textile work: colour, weave and reference numbers. Five woven vinyl surfaces Five lines, one material. The woven face is the same across all of them, so what changes is the backing and the format, and those two decide where the surface can go. Rolled flooring and floormats take a 3.0 mm PVC foam backing and are bonded and cold-welded on site. Acoustic modular carpet is die-cut into tiles from a 2.2 to 2.5 mm vinyl backing with fibreglass and a felt layer, so a damaged piece lifts out and goes back in the same afternoon. Wallcovering hangs on PET non-woven with a 1.0 mm woven face. Upholstery is the bare fabric, optionally on a 1 mm vinyl cushion. The customers are distributors, architects, interior designers and flooring contractors, and the specification route is the same whichever line they start from: a data sheet, a fire class and a fastness report. Wall to Wall Flooring Woven vinyl wall to wall flooring with the look and texture of a textile carpet and the easy care of vinyl, laid wall to wall over the subfloor with the seams cold-welded. The 3.0 mm vinyl cushion backing cuts impact noise by ΔLw 21 dB. Looks like textile, wears like vinyl Quick wall to wall installation Colours that echo nature View this surface Acoustic Modular Carpet Woven vinyl acoustic tiles, die-cut as squares, planks, or customer shapes. A 2.2–2.5 mm vinyl backing with fibreglass and acoustic felt brings the tile to 3.20–3.50 mm, and takes the edge off impact noise. Face yarn comes on a high-tenacity polyester core as standard; specify a fibreglass core to keep loose fibre off the cut edge and the [...] ### Ordering & Trade Terms | texlyweave URL: https://texlyweave.com/ordering-terms Ordering & trade terms MOQ, handling, samples, lead times, payment, delivery, claims, warranty and the law that applies to our sales. 1. That makes them the practical option at an entrance, in a hallway, in front of a kitchen run or a bar, in a bathroom, and on a patio or balcony where a woven surface is wanted outside. Because they can be lifted and moved, they also suit rented space and event use. Woven vinyl upholstery is used where seating has to look like fabric and survive contract use: hotel lobbies and restaurant banquettes, office breakout seating, waiting rooms, clinic chairs and the loose furniture in a retail floor. It is also used vertically, because the fabric and the wallcovering come off the same loom, so a banquette and the wall behind it can share one weave and one colour reference instead of two near-misses. Weight runs 550 to 850 gsm, depending on whether it is the fabric alone or the version on a backing, and the roll is 200 cm wide within 1% at 15 to 25 m. Offices and reception floors One continuous surface from the lift lobby to the meeting rooms. Retail and showroom space A calm base that lets the merchandise lead. Healthcare and education Wipe-clean, low-allergen floors for hospitals, clinics, classrooms and libraries. Residential interiors Living areas, bedrooms, kitchens and basements that keep the look of a woven textile. Which interiors does wall to wall flooring suit? Woven vinyl wall to wall flooring is specified where a floor is seen as well as used. In hotels it goes into guest rooms, corridors and lobbies, because the same surface carries a woven texture into the bedroom and survives trolley traffic in the corridor. In offices it runs from the lift lobby to the meeting rooms without a change of material, which is what makes an open floor read as one space. In retail it stays quiet under the merchandise. In hospitals and schools the wipe-clean face and the absence of pile matter more than the look, and in homes the 4 mm build at 2,400 gsm gives the warmth of a textile with the care of a vinyl. The construction is a 1.0 mm woven vinyl face on a 3.0 mm PVC foam backing, in rolls of at least 200 cm, cold-welded on site. Offices, reception and meeting rooms A woven textile look with a wipe-clean face. Retail, hospitality and public buildings Feature walls, backdrops and columns, and interiors where walls take daily wear. Residential Living rooms, bedrooms, dining areas and hallways, including kitchens and bathrooms. Which walls is wallcovering specified for? Woven vinyl wallcovering is specified where a wall has to take contact and still look like a textile. In hotel corridors and lift lobbies it absorbs the scuffing at hand height that paint and paper cannot. In offices it carries a weave onto the walls behind reception so the floor and the wall read as one scheme. In retail it gives a calm surface behind merchandise without the fragility of a paper. In healthcare and education the wipe-clean face matters more than the texture: marks come off with a damp cloth rather than a repaint. It is also used on bathroom, laundry and kitchen walls over a sound, sealed substrate, because the material does not absorb damp. The build is a 1.0 mm woven vinyl face on either a 0.3 mm PVC foam plus 0.70 mm PET non-woven backing [...] ### Projects: woven vinyl floors in buildings | texlyweave URL: https://texlyweave.com/projects/ Projects Projects A pavilion floor for a world expo, and the buildings that followed: where a woven vinyl surface had to hold up to a defined traffic and a fixed opening date. Project records Australian Pavilion, World Expo 2010 — Shanghai, 2010. Woven vinyl wall-to-wall flooring throughout the pavilion. More than four million visitors over six months, no visible wear at close. This is the project that turned flooring into a product line for us. Further project pages are being added as photographs and client permissions come through. If you need a reference for a specific application, hotel, office, school, retail or a transport hub, tell us the application and the market and we will send what we can share, including the construction and the test reports behind it. Applications in detail Ask for a reference ### Shanghai World Expo 2010: the Australian Pavilion floor | texlyweave URL: https://texlyweave.com/projects/shanghai-expo-2010-australian-pavilion Project The Australian Pavilion, World Expo 2010 In 2009 we supplied wall-to-wall woven vinyl flooring for the Australian Pavilion at World Expo 2010 in Shanghai. Six months and more than four million visitors later, the floor closed the expo without visible wear, and flooring became a line of its own for us. The project at a glance Project record Project Australian Pavilion, World Expo 2010 Location Shanghai, China Client Australian Government pavilion programme Pavilion architect Wood Marsh Our scope Woven vinyl wall-to-wall flooring Open May to October 2010, six months Footfall More than four million people walked on the floor Condition at close No visible wear What a pavilion floor has to survive A world expo pavilion is a building with a six-month life and a decade of traffic compressed into it. Queues form outside, visitors move through in waves, and the floor takes the whole day without a pause. There is no closed season for repairs and no second opening night. Wall-to-wall woven vinyl suited that brief for three reasons. The surface is continuous, with the seams cold-welded rather than left as joints where soil collects. It wipes clean with a mop, so the overnight cleaning crew needs no carpet equipment. And the face is a woven textile on a vinyl build, so it reads as a floor rather than as a sheet good in the photographs that a national pavilion generates. The pavilion drew 8.18 million visits over the expo, according to the Australian Government's own final report. More than four million people walked on the woven vinyl floor, and at the end of the six months it showed no visible wear. Why this project matters to us Flooring started as a request rather than a product line. Until 2009 we sold woven vinyl fabric, mainly for furniture, wallcovering and floormats, and the floor was somebody else's problem. Supplying the Australian Pavilion meant taking on the backing, the roll widths, the seam method and the installation sequence as well, and it turned flooring into a line of its own. Everything that came after runs on the same logic: a woven face on a backing chosen for the traffic, cold-welded where the run is long enough to need it, and documented with the fire class, the impact figure and the fastness report before the sample is approved. We now take on more than 200 projects a year on that basis, in hospitality, offices, education, healthcare, retail and residential interiors. The same construction today The material has been through several revisions since 2010. What has not changed is the build: a 1.0 mm woven vinyl face on a 3.0 mm PVC foam backing, 4 mm total and 2,400 gsm, supplied in 200 cm rolls and cold-welded on site. The current figures for wear, impact noise and fire classification are on the product page and in the test reports. Selection guides Three guides written around the decisions that come before a sample is approved. Woven vinyl, LVT or carpet tile: how to choose a contract floor Choosing flooring for hotels and hospitality interiors Woven vinyl for walls and furniture: a specification guide Flooring for gyms, studios and training spaces Flooring for schools, colleges and learning spaces Woven vinyl in offices and co-working spaces All selection guides How the material is built Face 1.0 mm woven vinyl, on vinyl-coated PET yarns. The colour is solution-dyed, so it runs through the yarn instead of sitting on the surface. Core yarn High-tenacity PET as standard, or a fibreglass core where more dimensional stability and wider seamless runs are needed. Backing, by product line Wall to wall flooring and floormats: 3.0 mm PVC foam. Acoustic modular carpet: a 2.2–2.5 mm vinyl backing with fibreglass and acoustic felt. Wallcovering and upholstery: PET non-woven, a 1 mm PVC foam backing, or the bare fabric where it is applied directly. Formats Wall to wall flooring in rolls of 200 cm ±1%, 15–25 m per roll. Acoustic modular carpet as tiles of 50×50 cm and 100×100 cm. Floormats and runners as finished pieces, 60–90 cm wide and 180–430 cm long as standard, plus customer sizes. Seams and cold welding on wall to wall flooring Rolls are 200 cm wide, so most rooms need at least one seam. A seam is not a butt joint: a liquid cold weld is run into the joint and sets hard, welding the woven face and the PVC backing together. The finished seam sits flat and stays closed under traffic instead of opening up. Layout is planned before installation so that crosscut seams fall outside the main sight lines. Cold welding glue can be supplied with the order on request. Cut edges that are not welded are knife-cut, and self-binding is available where a mat or a rug needs a finished edge. Wallcovering hangs with the same seam logic, but on the wall the joint is a wrapped, trimmed butt seam rather than a weld. Upholstery is cut and sewn, and the fabric can be supplied bare for direct application. Impact noise and sound absorption The acoustic tiles have a felt backing that takes the edge off impact noise. Impact noise is footfall, trolleys and chair castors. This is a measure of what the floor does to noise generated on it, not a measure of how much sound the surface absorbs. Sound absorption is αw 0.05, not classified, to EN ISO 354 . In plain terms, the tiles are a floor, not an acoustic panel: they reduce impact noise, and they are not sold as sound-absorbing panels. The work is done by the backing: a 2.2–2.5 mm vinyl backing with fibreglass and an acoustic felt layer. Tiles are die-cut, so a single piece can be lifted and replaced after damage. Solution-dyed colour, and why tones vary Colour is solution-dyed into the yarn, so it [...] ### Terms of Use | texlyweave URL: https://texlyweave.com/terms Terms of Use Last updated 23 September 2026.
